Please Take Note of Important Job Opportunity

Seeking Part-Time Project Coordinator

The Youth Engagement Strategy (YES) is an advocacy initiative under the supervision of the Wolfe Island Network (Youth Advisory Committee) and the Wolfe Island Community Center Board.
YES has received a Spark Advocacy Grant through the Heart and Stroke Foundation to fund a part-time project coordinator and initiate advocacy efforts. The purpose of the grant is to increase access to physical activity and healthy eating for Wolfe Island youth.

YES is currently seeking to engage the services of a part-time project coordinator ($25/h for 150h total – February 13th to October 31st 2012). Duties would include:-
Implement and advocacy strategy to develop an after-school program that incorporates physical activity and healthy eating.
- Advocacy for a school/community garden project.
- Organization of a youth-oriented activity fair showcasing Wolfe Island and Kingston groups that are dedicated to youth physical activity and healthy eating.

Interested individuals should submit a cover letter and a resume describing their qualifications and experience, in particular, as they relate to:
- Coordinating and managing community projects
- Familiarity with Wolfe Island organizations/groups
- Health promotion and youth engagement

Please include 3 references – at least one should be from Wolfe Island.

New Wolfe Island Rink Schedule

Rink Schedule for the remainder of the rink season- The rink is open daily.

PUBLIC SKATING:
■MONDAY- 3:00PM to 7:00PM
■WEDNESDAY & FRIDAY – 3:00PM to 5:00PM
■TUESDAY & THURSDAY – 7:00PM to 10:00PM
■ SATURDAY – 9:00AM to 12:00PM & 4:00PM to 8:00PM
■ SUNDAY – 1:00PM to 5:00PM

HOCKEY TIMES:
■ MONDAY – 7:00PM to 10:00PM
■ WEDNESDAY & FRIDAY – 5:00PM to 6:30PM (Wed) 7:30PM (Fri)
■ TUESDAY & THURSDAY – 3:00PM to 7:00PM
■ SATURDAY – 12:00PM to 4:00PM & 8:00PM to 10:00PM
■ SUNDAY – 5:00PM to 10:00PM

PLEASE NOTE:RESERVED ICE TIMES WILL TAKE PRECEDENT OVER THE ABOVE TIMES.

PLEASE REFER TO THE DAILY CALENDAR POSTED IN THE COMMUNITY CENTRE BUILDING FOR ANY CHANGES.

CHECK OUT RINK PROGRAMS: Please note people can still join Learn to Skate, on Sunday's 11:30 to 12 for 10 and under; 12-12:30 for 10+.

WIN announces the Wolfe Island Rink Programs

Ice Rink Special Programs – starting dates

*Adult (16+) Hockey League Friday evenings -
starting on Friday, Jan 6th, 7:30-9:00pm


$10.00 per player. Beginners welcome. Sign up sheets at Megaly’s and Fargo’s General Stores. Helmets and gloves required for all players. Goalies must wear full gear.

*Learn to Skate –
start on Sunday, Jan 8th
■for Children (ages 3-9) – 11:30am – 12:00pm
■for Older Children & Adults (age 10+) – 12:00 – 12:30pm

$40.00 for 8 weeks (Sundays). Led by certified CanSkate instructor. Helmets required. Sign up on the first day at the rink.

Broomball Wednesday evenings –
start on Wednesday Jan 11th
■for Children – 6:30 – 7:30pm
■for Adults – 7:30 – 9:00pm


$10.00 per players. Beginners welcome. An assortment of Broomball shoes and sticks will be provided. Helmets highly encouraged. Sign up on the first day at the rink.

Notes:
*Subsidies available for lower income families.
*If anyone has extra equipment at home that they are no longer using -skates, gloves, helmets etc. the Community Centre Board is looking at organizing and equipment exchange or loan program, and they would be happy to accept your old gear.
