WI Historical Society AGM & Ferry Tales with Brian Johnson

The annual general meeting (AGM) of the Wolfe Island Historical Society will be held at the United Church Hall on Victoria Street, Wolfe Island, on Wednesday evening, August 28, 2013, beginning at 7:00 pm.

The AGM will include a report by President Denis Chercuitte on the past year's activities and presentation of the Financial Statement for the year ended April 30, 2013 by Treasurer Brian MacDonald. A membership update will also be provided.

The Nominating Committee will then give its report, followed by elections to fill the four positions on the Board of Directors which are due for election this year. The five Directors elected last year have another year to go on their two-year terms.

John O'Shea - up for election in 2013

All Board Members have indicated that they are willing to serve on the Board for another year, including those whose term is up for renewal this year. The Nominating Committee is nominating them to serve on the Board for another two-year term. There will be an opportunity at the AGM for further nominations from the floor by the general membership. If more than four candidates are nominated to fill the four positions becoming available on the Board this year, an election will take place at the AGM.

The business portion of the meeting is expected to be concluded by 8:00 pm. Our founding President, Captain Brian Johnson, will then give a slide-show presentation entitled “Ferry Tales from Wolfe Island.” His presentation has been updated to include pictures not shown at previous gatherings. All are welcome to attend and enjoy this look into the past. Light refreshments will follow.
