Jennifer's talk, inspired by her latest novel, Shadows in the Tree (2013), will take
us on a journey back to the time of the American Revolution - “to a time when
impossible choices had to be made.”

Jennifer DeBruin is the daughter-in-law of Wolfe Island's Leonard and Karolina DeBruin. An author, entrepreneur and avid genealogist, Jennifer is also a professional speaker,trainer and facilitator. She has worked with youth and First Nations groups as well as new Canadians and is comfortable in classroom, community and corporate learning environments. She is a recipient of the Aboriginal Institutes' Consortium Award (2008).

Jennifer DeBruin writes fact-based historical fiction aimed at “discovering the
humanity in the history.” Her first novel, A Walk with Mary was published in 2012.
She is a member of the United Empire Loyalists Association of Canada, the Cornwall Township Historical Society and the Lost Villages Historical Society.
