Wolfe Island Wetland Corridor Report Community Meeting

Lake Ontario Keeper and the Wolfe Island Wildlife Association are hosting a Community Meeting to review the Wolfe Island Wetland Corridor Report (canal) prepared for LOK by Doug Howell of Stringer’s Environmental Services.
The meeting will be held at the W.I. Fire Hall on Tuesday, Feb. 8th beginning at 7:30 p.m. This meeting is of interest to all residents of Wolfe Island.
There will be time for questions and answers.

LOK encourages the public to submit comments/questions with regard to the Stringer’s Environmental Services ‘Wolfe Island Wetland Corridor’ report (available online at www.waterkeeper.ca, Mosier’s W.I. Service Station, Kingston Public Library) until Feb.25th to LOK, Wetland Corridor Comments, 245 Queen’s Quay West, Toronto, M5J 2K9,

Reading for the spirit

You are invited to join us on a 40-day spiritual journey beginning Ash Wednesday, 9 February 2005. We will read The Purpose Driven Life by Rick Warren. There will be opportunities to discuss your reading every two weeks. The book has 40 chapters of about 8-9 pages each.

The premise of this book is that there are no accidents God planned everything and everyone. Therefore every human has a divine purpose, according to God s master plan.

Snowball Tournament

The Snowball Tournament will be held Saturday February 12, 2005 at the Wolfe Island Community Centre, A and B Diamonds. Cost is $75.00 per team, winners receive their entry fee back. First 6 teams paid get to play. All proceeds go to the Wolfe Island Outdoor Recreation Committee.

Frontenac CFDC hosts Marketing Seminar

Harrowsmith, ON – The Frontenac Community Futures Development Corporation (Frontenac CFDC) will be conducting two free seminars on marketing and advertising for businesses in the Frontenacs. “Developing a Cost Effective Marketing Plan” will be held on two days in two locations. These seminars will focus on developing small scale marketing strategies and advertising for the small business.

Friday, February 25th 10 a.m. to 12 p.m.
North Frontenac Telephone Company, Sharbot Lake

This is an opportunity for any business or individuals in Frontenac County who are interested to learn how to develop an effective marketing plan on a small budget and how to develop effective advertising for their business in the area.

The topics to be covered in the seminar include marketing strategies, researching/knowing your target market, effectively promoting your product and services, and advertising. “These seminars will help all small businesses in the Frontenacs boost their individual profiles in the area and also will help increase their profiles outside of the region,” says Ryan Seeds, Frontenac CFDC Chair.

Wolfe Island Snowmobile Poker Run

The Wolfe Island Snowmobile Poker Run will be held on
Sat. Feb. 26th and begins at 2p.m. at the Marysville Ferry Dock.

The event includes a Roast Beef Dinner at the Island Grill.
Entry fee $35.00 for snowmobile and driver. The passenger can also play a Poker Hand for $25.00

Entry deadline FEB. 19TH.
