Get to know your business neighbours in the Frontenacs

Harrowsmith, ON – The Land o’ Lakes Tourist Association (LOLTA), in partnership with the Frontenac Community Futures Development Corporation (Frontenac CFDC), is pleased to present a “Familiarization Tour and Tourism Workshop”. All Frontenac business owners are invited to get on board the bus with neighbouring businesses as they explore business activities and opportunities in Frontenac County together. This tour and tourism workshop is a two day event, March 2nd and 3rd, from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

This two day program begins with a bus tour of the County on Wednesday March 2nd and winds up on Thursday March 3rd with a half-day workshop entitled “Packaging for Profit”. Participants will be asked to bring copies of their brochures and business cards if available. Lunches and breaks are included as are complete workshop materials.

Anna Kovachis and Helen Chadwick, co-owners of Canadian Discoveries a receptive tour operator in Eastern Ontario, will be leading the workshop on behalf of LOLTA. They have coordinated this tour and workshop as an opportunity for business owners to discover other business practices in Frontenac County, consider their business as a partner to others, their neighbours as assets to their own business potential and to work together to increase the profile of the area as a tourist destination. “This is a great opportunity for businesses in the area, so come out and get to know your neighbours in business in Frontenac County,” says Terry Shea, LOLTA’s General Manager.

During consultations with community groups in developing a strategic plan, the Frontenac CFDC learned that among the challenges that the Frontenac community face are lack of knowledge among neighbouring businesses and residents, businesses and communities are operating separately rather than working together and there was no common vision for development in the County. Frontenac CFDC feels that this tour addresses these concerns and provides a chance for business owners to meet and learn together.

Businesses need to register to participate. There is no cost – just a commitment for the two days is required. Please reply by e-mail to Land o’ Lakes Tourist Association: info@lol.on.ca, or Canadian Discoveries: info@canadiandiscoveries.ca. For more information, please contact Anna Kovachis, 549-3562, or e-mail info@canadiandiscoveries.ca.
