Scene of the Crime Festival

The Wolfe Island 6th Annual
Scene of the Crime Festival
will be held
Saturday, August 9th

Canada’s top mystery writers and readers’ unite on the island, where Canada’s first crime writer Grant Allen was born and raised, for a full day of programs, panels, the ever-popular short story contest and a brand new writing workshop.

The Grant Allen Award will be presented to New York Times bestselling author Joy Fielding, a native of Toronto. Filled with complex, three-dimensional characters, novels such as See Jane Run, Don’t Cry Now, The Deep End, The Other Woman, Mad River Road and her latest, Heartstopper have been a real inspiration to Canadian crime writers. Marysville Celebrates 150 Years! UPDATE

NOTICE BY PROCLAMATION!

You are invited by the Wolfe Island Historical Society to help us celebrate the 150th anniversary of our Village, Marysville, on Saturday, August 23, 2008 come rain or shine.

Bonnet contest: Prizes for the best three bonnets of any style – everyone welcome to enter the contest.

11 :00 a.m. sharp an old fashioned parade through the Village (bring your chairs!)

12:00 p.m. St. Margaret’s Hall where food will be available, and games & face painting for kids. At this time, all ‘Marys’ will register for a draw. The name may be rented for $5 for the occasion. Wonderful prizes to be had!

1 :00 p.m. Pie judging followed by an auction to benefit the Wolfe Island Historical Society.

2:00 p.m. Our Guest of Honour Mary Hinckley Hamilton, Historian from Cape Vincent, will give a talk on Mary Hinckley Davis Hitchcock, for whom our Village is named.

3:00 p.m.and 4:00 p.m. Two concurrent tours beginning from Trinity Church: The Village tour given by Marjory Bousfield; the other of the Anglican cemetery. Village churches open for visitors.

7:00 p.m. The White Pine Blue Grass Band will play at st. Margaret’s Hall followed at 9:00 p.m. by Robert Graham’s Band playing 1940s-90s music. Punch will be served.
