Wolfe Island Plowmen's Association

Competitions Held Since 1947!

The Wolfe Island Plowmen's Association was created in 1956. At the time, the Wolfe Island Township (now part of Frontenac Islands Township) was one of the few townships in Ontario that could boast of it's own Plowmen's Association. Many Wolfe Island competitors have gone on to compete in plowing matches all across Eastern Ontario and at the International Plowing Match conducted by the Ontario Plowmen's Association. Many young Wolfe Island women have represented the Association in the Ontario Queen of the Furrow competitions. These women have done very well in competition, in fact, one young lady was declared runner-up for the Ontario Furrow Queen.
A number of local plowmen have placed well up in the competition at the International Plowing Match. Two local plowmen have retired from active competition and now serve as judges at the International and local matches.
Over the years, the association has provided the opportunity for good clean fun in competition on the plowing field. During this time, the Association has hosted plow people from across Ontario, including many champion plowmen and the best judges to decide our winners. Times do change, but we hope that the Wolfe Island Plowmen's Association will continue to provide friendly competition on the plow field for years to come.
